Privacy Policy — Kerala Court Case Sync
Last updated: July 31, 2026
Kerala Court Case Sync ("the Extension") helps advocates automatically retrieve their own case list from the Kerala Courts e-filing portal (filing.keralacourts.in) and sync it to their own case management dashboard.
This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what is (and is not) collected or stored.
What the Extension Does
- Runs only on filing.keralacourts.in, and only on pages under
/dashboard/*.
- When a sync is triggered (via the Extension's popup or a connected dashboard the user controls), the Extension reads the logged-in advocate's own case list from that site, using the advocate's own existing browser session — the same way the site behaves when the advocate browses it manually.
- The retrieved case data (case numbers, parties, hearing dates, and similar publicly-filed case information) is sent to the user's own configured backend/dashboard for storage and display.
What the Extension Does NOT Do
- The Extension does not read, store, transmit, or have any access to the advocate's login credentials, password, or session cookie. All authentication happens directly between the advocate's browser and filing.keralacourts.in; the Extension only reads data from pages the advocate is already logged into.
- The Extension does not collect or transmit any personal browsing history, data from other websites, or any information unrelated to the advocate's own case list on filing.keralacourts.in.
- The Extension does not sell, share, or use collected case data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than displaying it back to the advocate through their own connected dashboard.
Data Stored Locally
The Extension uses chrome.storage.local to store only:
- The status of the most recent sync (success or failure)
- The timestamp of the most recent sync
This data stays on the user's own device and is not transmitted anywhere beyond what's needed to show sync status in the popup.
Data Sent to Third Parties
The only data transmitted off the user's device is the case list data fetched from filing.keralacourts.in, sent to the backend endpoint the user (or the organization providing this tool) has configured the Extension to use.
No data is sent to any analytics service, advertising network, or any party other than this configured backend.
Permissions Justification
| Permission | Why it's needed |
| Host access to filing.keralacourts.in | To read the advocate's own case list from the page they are logged into. |
storage | To remember the status/timestamp of the last sync, shown in the popup. |
tabs | To locate the advocate's open filing.keralacourts.in tab so the sync script can run there. |
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
